Today I was fortunate enough to be accompanied by my good friend L to go on another adventure.
Café Pista is located around little Italy, about a block away from Beaubien metro station in Montreal. It is my first time around this area and it is honestly quite different from the downtown crowd that I am used to. Nonetheless, it is a place to check out.
Beside the staple espresso drinks, it offers a good variety of non-coffee drinks as well such as loose leaf teas, chai latte and more. Pista also has a good selection of eats including viennoiserie, tartlettes and dishes served until 3pm in the afternoon. Though we didn’t indulge on the eats, the neighboring table’s avocado tartine topped with salmon gravlax and a poached egg made us repent on eating too much for lunch😆
Moving on to the coffee, we both got a latte. If I remember correctly, it is an ethiopian blend that it is using currently (June 2017). Overall, it is a smooth coffee with a sour hint. As mentioned before, I prefer bolder tasting coffee on the bitter side even, so I found this a little light for my liking. My friend L, on the other hand, really enjoyed hers and found it smoothly aromatic.
Pista is suitable for casual hangouts, studying and working. The café itself is very spacious and even has dedicated work space in the rear end. The café does, however, reserve some tables beside the counter for hangout or drinking coffee (a.k.a no computer allowed) during a period of time within the day.
If you are looking to explore Montreal outside of downtown or you are in the Little Italy neighborhood looking for a hangout spot, Café Pista is a great place to do so ☕
